Jesus’ departure is imminent and the disciples are confused and frightened. Why must He go? Is He abandoning them? How can they carry on without Him? Their fears rise, but in the closing discourse of John’s gospel, Jesus comforts His followers with assurance of His eternal purposes, His continued presence and powerful help.
